Safety Awareness for Frontline Teams (SAF-T CARE)
Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
With over 20 years of experience in complex psychiatric care, I provide specialized training for medical professionals working with pediatric, adolescent, and adult patients at risk of harm behaviors. My approach goes beyond traditional crisis intervention—focusing on preventative strategies that mitigate risks before escalation while ensuring essential medical care is completed safely and effectively.

My Mission
I equip medical professionals with practical, evidence-based tools to improve safety, reduce workplace violence, and minimize medical trauma for patients. Whether in outpatient clinics, ICUs, general medical units, operating rooms, or emergency settings, my trainings help staff navigate the unique challenges of providing care to patients with complex psychiatric and behavioral needs.
What Makes My Training Different?
Unlike traditional de-escalation programs that focus on crisis response, my trainings emphasize:
✔ Proactive, preventative strategies to reduce escalation and harm risk.
✔ Practical techniques to safely complete medical exams, procedures, and interventions.
✔ Tailored approaches for different healthcare settings, from outpatient visits to high-acuity hospital care.

ABOUT ME
I am a board-certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with over 20 years of experience. I specialize in developing trauma-informed, individualized care plans for behaviorally complex patients, with a high risk of harm behaviors, across all medical settings, supporting a safer and more effective treatment approach for both patients and staff.

In 2022, I created a vaccination clinic for patients with high-risk harm behaviors, addressing critical gaps in care for neurodivergent and behaviorally complex individuals. My expertise includes supporting children who require general anesthesia for dental work, lab testing, inpatient hospitalizations, and clinic visits requiring enhanced safety measures.
By integrating psychiatric understanding to nursing care, I provide proactive strategies that:
✔ Reduce anxiety and distress
✔ Minimize injury risk for patients, staff, and caregivers
✔ Support a systematic approach to a safer approach to completion of medical procedures
TESTIMONIALS
Everything was done to keep my son’s dignity. I am a retired ER RN and can really appreciate the time and effort Elizabeth put in to have everything so smoothly arranged. She made it possible to have special need kids with severe behavior issues evaluated and vaccinated. My husband and I are so grateful.
- Parent
WOW, you are so incredible at what you do. I listened as you gracefully and patiently responded to a mother's concern regarding a very sensitive subject. Your words were direct and percise which she needed to hear, however at the same time, you made this mom feel heard and valued. This balance guided her to a place of understanding regarding the patients safety and care and it was beautiful to watch.

Thank you so much for all your help with a very challenging and emotionally charged patient situation. You helped provide such clarity and direction to a large group of individuals with such differing opinions. And I truly appreciate how your were able to bring insight for the family that the team/staff needed to hear. Our team would not have come to the resolution we did without your guidance. Thank you for being my/our right hand through all of this.
